TOYCON 2014

screengrab from Toycon 2014 FB page

Since today is the last day of 13th Philippine Toys, Hobbies and Collectible Convention (Toycon) 2014, with family in tow, I drove all the way from San Mateo, Rizal to SM Megamall this morning.

After taking our lunch at Dads buffet, with the two elder kids, we threaded to SM Megatrade Halls and bought entrance ticket for 130 pesos per head. The wife and youngest kid opted to visit National Bookstore and Cyberzone instead.

SOME SHOTS

The three halls were jam-packed with shoppers, cosplayers, artists, gamers, hobbyists and kibitzers. The countless toy exhibits were so massive that I couldn't help myself from admiring and staring at my childhood hero, Voltes V. I was looking for a new Voltes V robot but it seemed all were second-hand but kept in good condition by their owners.

Voltes V!
Is that Camp Big falcon on top?

Anyway, I was impressed nonetheless with Optimus Prime. This is my favorite shot.

Due to coming Rurouni Kenshin (Samurai X) movies, yes the remaining two sequels will be released in a few months; a huge area has been reserved to promote these films. The original costumes in the said movies were also in display.

MY LOOT!

Aside from that, a less popular and stupid autobots aka Dinobots are now the new darling of the crowds due to the new Transformer movie that will be shown in less than a week.

It is a pity that they merely allocated 3 days for Asia's biggest and longest running convention for toys and collectibles. Even on its last day, people are still lining-up to enter Megatrade Halls. I hope they would allocate more viewing days on the next year's Toycon.

YOU CAN HAVE THIS FOR 62,001 PESOS!
