All Black Beef Burger at Eduardo's Peri-Peri, SM San Mateo

While strolling at newly opened SM San Mateo, something grabbed my attention. A pitch-black hamburger is being offered by Eduardo's Peri-Peri. I have known the famous Portuguese Peri-Peri Chicken cuisine; in fact I have dined at several Nando's Peri-Peri restaurants in different countries thus I was amazed seeing a Peri-Peri restaurant offering burger and fries, not to mention that it is using black burger bun.

With wife in tow, we tried the "All-Black" Beef Burger Combo for 169 pesos per order; inclusive of drink and fries.

The service was quite fast since there were fewer customers inside the place though nothing especial about its decors and ambiance.

The burger comes oozing with their in-house sauce coupled with, I believe, mustard sauce. If you like your meal on salty but tasty side like me then this is your burger otherwise don't bother ordering it. The wife wasn't happy due to strong sour taste of the sauce; it overpowers the flavor of the grilled burger patty according to her. There is a queer taste on the bun as well perhaps due to its ingredient that causes it to be black or maybe it was just me expecting something unique. Minus the black buns, this burger has nothing new to offer when compared with other burger brands.

Anyway, it was quite an experience dining on a black burger in a Peri-Peri restaurant. Next time we will try their flame grilled chicken. Oh by the way, they only offer two types of sauces for their Peri-Peri Chicken.

  1. That seems like a good price for the meal! We should really check out SM San Mateo soon. Silly question, but what makes the black buns special?

  2. I have no idea what makes their burger buns black. Nonetheless, SM San Mateo is a good place to visit for foodie since it has several restaurants and a coffee shop that you won't usually find in other SM Malls. You can try Rodic's famous Tapsilog or visit Kuya J restaurant. More so, this is the first SM Mall I have visited where a McDonald's outlet doesn't sell burgers; quite strange isn't it?
